    • Application form duly filled

Note: the required documents may vary depending on your travel destination. So, make sure you tally the requirements and prepare accordingly.
  3. Some countries require you to schedule an interview for completion of the visa application, whereas for others, you can complete the visa process online or through an application centre. So, accordingly, complete the steps.
  4. Pay the Visa fees online or when you are applying for the appointment.
  5. Once your visa application has been approved, your visa will be shared with you on your registered email ID, along with a sticker visa to be affixed on one of the pages of your passport.

Visa Eligibility

Eligibility for the Visa process depends on various factors, including the Visa type, home country, and specific Visa requirements. The following documents are required to be submitted to be eligible for a Visa -

  • Valid Passport
  • Proof of financial stability
  • Income tax returns
  • Travel insurance

Types of Visa

Two types of visas exist in the case of a tourist visa, depending on the country you are entering: a single-entry visa and a multiple-entry visa.

Single-entry visa

With a single-entry visa, you can enter a country only once. If you leave and wish to return, you must apply for a new visa. For instance, if you wish to visit China from Singapore, a single-transit visa would work. But if you wish to return, a single-entry visa won’t work because the moment you leave the country, the visa is considered used. Additionally, special provisions may apply in the case of some countries: such as a 24-hour free transit visa in Shanghai for guests (depending upon your nationality) having a single-entry China visa, provided you get confirmed outbound flights within 24 hours.

Multiple-Entry Visa

A multiple-entry visa gives you the option to enter and exit a country multiple times during the visa’s validity period. This is preferable when your cruise itinerary involves taking you to the same destination country on separate days or allowing for multiple port entries. Multiple-entry visas give you the flexibility and convenience of re-entry and avoidance of hassles involving visa renewals and overstays.

Important Things to Keep in Mind On Visa Process

  • Always carry photocopies of your passport and a passport-size photograph for the visa completion process.
  • For multiple-entry itineraries, you need to ensure that your visa covers the complete duration of your cruise journey.
  • Some countries, such as Japan, require you to make a cash deposit or credit card linkage for shore leave.
  • Complete any digital forms or online registrations in advance, e.g., wherever required in Thailand TDAC or Hong Kong PAR.
  • Guests should always check local visa policies and requirements before departure, as regulations can change.
  • Even if you decide not to leave your cruise and get on land at the standby port, you are still required to carry a visa since you are on international waters, and it is mandatory under international law.
  • The above conditions are subject to change and are non-binding and for information purposes only. It is recommended that you cross-check the information with the embassy site in case of any doubt or confusion.
